Amanda Attfield

AMANDA ATTFIELD
I was born in and now live and work in Herefordshire. Much of my work is inspired by this stunningly beautiful and rural county which has a unique and ancient geology. Hundreds of millions of years ago it was a shallow marine environment, and there are still traces of that today. It is more ancient than human beings, and it needs our understanding, our respect and our protection. I am also inspired by the age old cycles of growth, decline, renewal - that nothing is perfect, nothing lasts, and nothing is ever finished. I am interested in creating pieces that reflect these things whether from an environmental, social or political perspective.

What is Bioresin?
Each unique piece is made using Super Sap resin which is manufactured using renewable plant-based carbon in place of petroleum-based carbon. Also, the raw materials in SuperSap resins are co-products or waste products of other important industrial processes which means they do not compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture.
