I am a painter, turned basketmaker.
I’d been learning the craft of basketmaking for about 6 years, purely as a hobby. But when Covid arrived, and sent me down to my studio by necessity rather than choice, I somehow lost my enthusiasm for paint and paper. I had always loved weaving, textiles, texture, and I found myself looking forward to spending more and more time with willow.
I love creating something functional – and I hope beautiful – from sticks.
Now I can’t wait to get into my workshop, where I can pause in my work and look out at my newly-planted willow patch, and feel that I have found my creative path.
