Adrian Shiel
With a varied employment history ranging from boat building, progress chasing, recording Buddhist monastery festivals in the Himalayas, and as an academic librarian, Adrian came late to stone sculpture. Working with a variety of stone, including soapstone, alabaster and limestones, Adrian creates forms that focus on the natural qualities of the materials and reveal often unexpected colour and textures. His work is strongly influenced by geology and archaeology in the way they shape the landscape and produce natural and man-made forms. Living below the Malvern Hills he is constantly aware of these processes. As a largely self-taught sculptor he finds that the process of working stone is one of constant discovery and learning. |
Zoe Wright
Working from my rural barn studio in the Welsh Marches surrounded by hills, kites and the odd sheep I design and create jewellery, predominately in recycled sterling silver.
All pieces are handmade from scratch using sheet and wire, the end result being unique and relaxed pieces for you to wear. There is an emphasis on texturing the jewellery combining techniques such as forging, press forming, fusing, and reticulation. Some pieces have a polished surface, some have a smooth matt finish and I also use oxidation in parts to give a dark patina as a contrast to the gleaming silver. I add highlights and colour with high quality semi-precious gemstones and freshwater pearls reflecting the light. |
