and Sunday 31st October 2021
and Sunday 31st October 2021
Kington is proud to be the host for the annual gathering and AGM of the national Walkers are Welcome Association this year, and over the three-day weekend of the 29th, 30th and 31st October we are looking forward to giving a warm welcome to the 50 + delegates from other walking towns around the country.

The Walkers are Welcome visitors will be joining in a range of walks, and talks arranged by the Walking Festival committee, and alongside this the town are offering some extracurricular opportunities:
Dave Mullin from Lockdown Books is organising stalls and food in the Market Hall Local artists Rachel Ricketts and Kathryn Moore are opening their studios Made in the Marches gallery will be showing its current 'Off the Beaten Track' exhibition |
The gallery is also facilitating the community 'drawing room' mark-making activity in the Place de Marines next to the Market Hall over the weekend, alongside a display of community art works - all connected with The Big Draw and its current theme of 'Make the Change', offering us all the chance to think about how we can take small steps towards a more sustainable future.
The Walkers are Welcome Association has created a large textile wall hanging and each town that hosts the annual gathering is invited to submit a textile square to be added to the wall hanging. The Kington contribution has been specially designed by Kathryn Moore and interpreted in stitch by Helen Smith. The whole wall hanging will be on display in the Burton Hotel during the weekend so do go and see it! |
